The difficulty of balancing family and career, audiences and funders, and differing expectations of campus and field requires that difficult ethical choices be made. Dr. Albert C. Pierce, is a Professor of Ethics and National Security at National Defense University. Dr. Pierce has a long history in education and university settings.  During his career, he served as Deputy Director of the Strategic Concepts Development
Center and at the National War College. He was the founding director of the Center for Study of Professional Military Ethics at the U.S. Naval Academy and served as Assistant to the Secretary of Defense.
